Thanks for the positive reaction, folks! I feel incredibly blessed, as I had totally anticipated having to go on the market again next year. But then this came up and was totally surprised by the salary offer (in a good way). I negotiated from the initial offer and was met more than half way. Besides salary, all other things stayed the same.

- SLAC near high COL metropolitan area - 4-4 (3 preps) - 55k - tt position - 1500 travel/conferences - get to teach what I want in a friendly, supportive department - office, computer, supplies - don't have to move (!!!) but would have been given money - summer competitive research funds
