The Bonner Center for Service and Learning (BCSL) invites applications for the position of Program Director for the Bonner Scholars Program and Assistant Director. This is a full time, 12-month, Administrative and Professional Staff position reporting to the Director of the Bonner Center for Service and Learning. The successful candidate will direct the Bonner Scholars Program, a community service scholarship program for over 60 low-income, under-represented and/or first generation college students, support student leadership development, and assist with daily operations.

Responsibilities: Coordinate all major aspects of the Bonner Scholars Program, as well as assist in daily operations of the Bonner Center for Service and Learning. The incumbent will join two other professional staff members in the administration the BCSL, which serves as a hub of campus–community collaborations at Oberlin College. Work will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Manage program development, implementation, evaluation and assessment of all aspects of the Bonner Scholars Program, using components consonant with current student development theory; serve as primary liaison with the Bonner Foundation, completing required reports as necessary; assist with daily operations of the BCSL and implementation of the BCSL’s current strategic plan; represent the College at professional meetings.
Coordinate outreach with other campus offices and relevant faculty members; assist with student leadership development programming; serve as a Winter Term project sponsor; assist with professional development for BCSL student staff; help build capacity of local non-profit organizations; undertake special projects and duties as directed.
Requirements: Master’s degree in relevant field; 3-5 years of related experience in an office dedicated to civic engagement or related student affairs work; knowledge and experience in working with low income and underrepresented students and creating strong working relationships with diverse populations; excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written materials, engage in public speaking, and communicate and interact effectively with diverse BCSL constituencies including faculty, staff, students, community partners, alumni and donors; experience and demonstrated capacity working both independently and collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators and community organizations; strong managerial skills and ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments under pressure with frequent interruptions; demonstrated organizational skills, with experience in managing financial resources and in budget planning; availability for regular evening and weekend programming; strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications, web-reporting systems, database management software, and facility in using technology in program delivery; experience in program development, implementation and evaluation, event planning, and external relations.
Desired Qualifications: Doctorate in a Liberal Arts field; teaching experience with and solid understanding of principles and practices of service-learning, particularly in the context of higher education institutions; knowledge of and experience with basic risk management standards and procedures.
Compensation: Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and includes an excellent benefits package.
