CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
City University of New York (CUNY) School of Public Health (SPH) seeks an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (tenure-track or with tenure) in community health. CUNY is establishing NYC's first public and collaborative School of Public Health, with a focus on urban health, population aging and health equity. The CUNY SPH is a collaboration of the public health programs at Hunter, Brooklyn and Lehman Colleges and the Graduate Center.
Hunter College seeks candidates with extensive teaching and administrative experience, eager to play a leadership role in the development of the community health program in the new CUNY School of Public Health. The selected candidate should have outstanding qualifications teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in community health, and a strong research portfolio in community research in urban settings. This appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor will be made at Hunter College for the academic year commencing September 2010.
Responsibilities include:
* Direct, administer and further develop the community health program (undergraduate and graduate) with a focus on urban populations.
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in community health and help develop new courses, as needed.
* Lead, participate in and seek funding with interdisciplinary research teams that will conduct community-based studies of urban health.
NOTES:
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with rank, education, accomplishments and experience.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
* Doctorate in community health, public health or a closely related field (e.g., sociology, psychology, urban studies); undergraduate and graduate teaching experience; and successful grant-making portfolio and peer-reviewed publications.
* A proven record in administrative and managerial positions is essential.
* Research experience in community, public health or other non-academic settings is also desirable.
COMPENSATION
Commensurate with rank, education, accomplishments and experience.
