new, permanent soc jobs forum

Some people have mentioned recently that it would be helpful to have one permanent rumor mill forum, as certain issues come up again and again.

With that in mind, here it is:

socjobs.proboards.com/index.cgi

That is for the next cycle and beyond, as it would be too cumbersome to move everything there. For this cycle's stuff, please keep using this forum.

I don't know if ElDuderino has any administrative responsibilities for the wiki, but it might make sense to have one permanent site for that as well, with different pages devoted to different hiring seasons.

Also, would it be possible to nominate some threads to be transferred to the new proboards forum -- as the original suggester suggested, some of the conversations were really useful and archiving them would help us avoid going over the same ground.

(Yeah, unfortunately I'll still be making use of this forum next year! A one-year VAP is great to have, though it feels like limbo-land.)

thanks for the suggestions. With regards to the wiki, I created a tentatively permanent wiki, linked in the other forum.

As for moving threads, there is no way to move threads from this site to that site other than copying and pasting each message. So we will be starting over, but at least things there should be permanent, and people can always quote something from here as they continue the discussion.

Thanks, duderino, for starting the new forum. You may not have had a chance to doublecheck for spelling...but "Discussion" needs to be changed.
