Job Description:
The Central Arkansas Veteran’s Healthcare System invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in mental health services research. This interdisciplinary program is designed to prepare Ph.D. and M.D. fellows for independent investigation in high priority areas of mental health. Research is concentrated in the following areas: rural mental health or telemedicine, mental health in primary care, implementation science, PTSD, access to care, and substance abuse. Individualized, mentored research is combined with a state-of-the-art curriculum that emphasizes research methods, statistics, epidemiology, mental health systems, quality improvement methods, education, and service delivery. Clinician fellows will be allowed 25% time for clinical work.
All applicants are requested to have U.S. citizenship and the desire to pursue a professional career with a focus on mental health services and/or research. Non-clinician applicants (e.g., anthropologists, sociologists) must complete their Ph.D. training prior to the fellowship start date. Clinician applicants must complete an ACGME accredited residency or APA accredited internship program by the start date of the fellowship. Applicants must submit: 1) Cover letter of introduction describing your background and professional interests and career goals, and explain why you are interested in this fellowship training program, 2) Curriculum vitae, 3) Three letters of recommendation, and 4) One or two samples of scholarly writing (such as research manuscript, executive summary of dissertation, journal article reprint).
