Sociology: Alice Lloyd College, position announcement Division of Social Sciences/Business Alice Lloyd College, a small, private, liberal arts institution located in the eastern Kentucky mountains, is currently seeking applications for a position in sociology. Faculty at ALC live on campus and have dining hall privileges when school is in session. The successful applicant should have completed a doctorate in sociology, but abd will be considered. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in statistics for the social sciences, and social research. Responsibilities: Primary teaching responsibility will be to teach multiple sections of Principles of Sociology (SOC 160), Social Problems (SOC 111), and/or Race and Ethnicity (SOC 268) and other specialty courses as needed (e.g. Complex Organizations). The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence and effectiveness in teaching, demonstrate scholarly achievement, contribute to student growth and development, engage in on-going professional development, and contribute service to the department, the university and the community.
Qualifications and Experience: PhD or ABD (by date of appointment) in sociology or related fields is required. The successful candidate will provide evidence of excellence and effectiveness in teaching, ability to teach introductory and upper level courses in principles of sociology, social problems, race and ethnicity and (as needed) complex organization. Preference will be given to those who best complement ongoing development of our program, which is applied and critical, and who do not duplicate current program strengths (see website, bulletin.stcloudstate.edu/departments/soc.asp ).
