Position Summary: The Office of Population Research at Princeton University seeks a postdoctoral research associate to work on the "Social and Spatial Networks, Social Capital, and Leadership Accountability in Rural Development" Project. The research will be conducted under the direction of Professor Delia Baldassarri. The successful candidate will be in charge of preparation of public-release files; cleaning data and processing files; creation of documentation such as codebooks; writing documentation for data files; and overseeing the work of undergraduate and graduate assistants. In addition the candidate is expected to take a leading role in conducting advanced data analysis.
Essential Qualifications: This position requires a PhD, which should be in one of the Social Sciences, with a preference for Sociology or Political Science. Candidates near the completion of their PhD who have submitted but not yet defended the Ph.D. thesis will be considered. However, the appointment will be subject to a 10% reduction in salary until the degree is completed. A substantive interest in economic development, cooperation, and social capital, with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa is essential. A strong statistical training as well as expertise with experimental approaches is required.
