I have heard that they were going to do all of the interviews (30+ for all Wilder School positions) before making any decisions. The way they've done this gives me doubts about it as a place to work. It's more like a hostage situation than a screening process.

I have no rejection, no word, no nothing--no matter--I'm about to accept an offer.

Any news? Seems like an insane amount of time since the interviews (at least some of them) were conducted...

This has dragged on for way too long. It's extremely unprofessional to keep this many people in the dark for months.

Interviewed there months ago. "Unprofessional" doesn't begin to sum it up. This may provide useful insight as to the work environment. Better to know now than a couple of years after getting your foot caught in the trap.

Neither did I get an interview nor a rejection letter. I know they had gobs of applicants but it would be appropriate to tell me I'm not good enough to work there.

after a 2.5 month wait emailed to inquire about the status of my application. i will not be getting an offer, but did infer from the email that there are other offers outstanding. no idea to who or how many though. my suggestion is if you interviewed there and have not heard back from them to email the director.

I had heard that they made at least one offer (some time back) but the candidate declined. Can't verify it, but the source has been otherwise reliable. This penny gets duller every day.

Got my rejection letter yesterday. Actually am happy. They called the research center I worked at for many years while completing my PhD and were conducting interviews with staff, basically soliciting recommendations, but asking about the status of my relationship with people at the center. It seemed like they were interested in knowing how well my relations were with faculty and knowing if I was tied to any current projects- also what current projects the center was working on and if they mirrored the interests of faculty at VCU. It seemed like they wanted to hire the center and not me.

Oh, in regards to their unprofessional nature- when setting up my travel to their school, they called my current work office and asked to speak with me. Boss heard this as secretary came to my desk and told me VCU was on the phone. They did not use my preferred method of contact which I sent them days earlier. Also, during this process of setting up my travel for interview, they sent me information that was part of a forwarded email, which included contact information for another candidate that was coming in day before I (it had her name, date of birth, and phone number). Also when I was there for interview one Prof showed the list of 30 or so job candidates they had coming in that month and what their respected discipline was...not much in way of professionalism at VCU (at least fro me duirng the interview process). Watch out whoever gets in.

After a campus visit THREE MONTHS AGO, I got my rejection letter Friday. True to the class act that they've shown themselves to be, it was sent from some bureaucrat in the personnel office... who I'd never met. The person that takes this job better hang on tight because it's going to be a real joy.
